September 5th, 2014 Brenda was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer and thus began her Journey to Well-Being. She managed her six chemo-therapy sessions very well and we watched her cell count markers drop drastically. In December she under went a complete hysterectomy to remove any remnants of tumors. While reviewing a post surgery CT scan it was determined that the cancer may have spread to her colon, so to be sure they recommended a colon re-section surgery. Her prognosis still required radiation treatments and she was dismayed to learn there would be 28 sessions instead of the original 3-5 originally prescribed. The first 8 months of her treatment she handled her recovery better than anyone could have expected but the battery of the 28 radiation treatments took it's toll. Brenda lost a siginificant amount of weight, continues to battle stomach pains and was hospitalized for severe nausea for four days. Only in the past week or so has she began to gain her strength and start her recovery process. She was looking forward to making plans to begin this new healthy chapter of her life when on Sept. 3rd, 2015 she was informed that the cancer had spread to her lungs. For the past year Brenda has handled herself in an exemplary fashion, with a positive attitude and courageous strength. She is not defeated by this latest news, but will need to pool all of her resources to be able to take advantage of the best services in our country at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas to know what her best course of action is to defeat this disease. Brenda is a humble woman and is not comfortable asking for assistance, but with her supplemental insurance coverage undetermined and the good fortune of acceptance into the MD Anderson Center we will need to make sure she can afford this endeavor. Brenda has been very brave through this process and deserves the best care to attain the best possible outcome for her situation. Her vision for well-being is clear and we are grateful for your prayers and support.
