We are trying to help raise money to support Mary Gottselig through a sudden medical emergency she experienced while traveling states away from home.
Mary was accompanying her husband, Michael, on a business trip to Norfolk, Virginia when she was suddenly struck with intense back pain and rushed to the hospital. After six days of hospitalization and excruciating pain she was finally diagnosed with a massive spinal staph infection with multiple epidural abscesses requiring spinal surgery. To be able to continue paying for medical expenses Michael had to continue his work in another state, while other members of the family traveled to Virginia to care for Mary before, during and after her surgery.
Mary and son, Justin, the day after surgery. The first time she was able to stand in 6 days.
We are happy to report that the spinal surgery was a huge success and she is on the road to recovery! We are now discussing with the hospital possible options for safe transport back to Atlanta where she can continue her treatment from home. Right now flying is the primary option for transporting her given her physical state and constant antibiotic treatment plan.
Now being over a week into this medical emergency Mary and her family have experienced massive expenses in travel costs, rental cars, hotels and medical bills. We are now looking into two last-minute plane tickets back to Atlanta for Mary accompanied by her husband, Michael, where she can continue her treatment at home. We are asking for donations to assist Mary and her family for all the previous costs of this emergency and the plane tickets moving forward. Any donations are appreciated during this unexpected medical emergency far from home. Thank you for helping bring Mary home!
