Our dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer in January. The kidney cancer spread to his lungs and was having a hard time breathing. He was doing really well with his treatments and the cancer was shrinking. In July he got a new CT scan and saw that the cancer had spread to quite a few new places including his bones. They started radiation in August on the masses on the bones but he got really sick and had to stop. Now he has been in the hospital for the last week and is not able to walk. The masses on his spine are growing and going into his spinal cord. We are planning to go to OHSU for a 2nd opinion once he gets out of the hospital. Today one of the Dr's stated today that he would not sign off on medical equipment being sent home because he was wanting him to do radiation treatment in the hospital but it had been stated that he could do out patient radiation and when my mom talked to the radiologist at the out patient office she said she wouldn't do it. Now that dad said he would do it in the hospital they are up in the air if they will do it. It has been very frustrating. We are stll wating to hear what they sre willing to do. Between medical bills, dads income is going to be alot less, paying for things dad needs that insurance won't pay for, it will be alot of out of pocket for my parents. If anyone can help us we would truly appreciate the help!
