To our DC friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the struggles that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused our industry. The virus’s threat has effectively halted all activity within our community, taking a particularly heavy toll on workers in hospitality, music, and entertainment industries. Effective March 15, 2020, the DC Government and DC Department of Health has shut down all bars, nightclubs, and concert venues indefinitely. DC has 2,437 nightlife businesses, employing approximately 65,000 people. With venues closing around the city, many of our beloved colleagues, co-workers, friends, employers, and staff have lost their jobs and have no other means of income for themselves or their families. While we know that this is an incredibly challenging time for all, we hope to turn some of our fear and frustration into helping those in need by establishing DC Nightlife Relief.
At a time like this – we look to YOU to help those who have provided countless memories and unforgettable nights. DCNR was created as a resource to help our beloved friends who have lost work due to COVID-19.
Relief will be paid out in the form of reimbursements. The fund will be used to help those in the DC Nightlife Industry pay for groceries, utilities, rent relief or other health reasons. Please allowed 3-5 days and applicants will receive an email with next steps.
There will be full transparency with funds + updates on the GoFundMe page. 100% of the money that comes in will be distributed to those in need!
