Hunter's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, this is some of Hunter's closest friends. We are fundraising to help our buddy on his road to recovery.

Sometimes we are reminded of the fragility of life in the blink of an eye. That happened on the night of October 13th, 2022, for our friend Hunter Bjorgaard.

Hunter was struck by a large farm truck while walking across the road that night. He was taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks by ambulance, where the extent of his injuries began to unfold. The first couple of days were touch and go due to severe drops in blood pressure. He sustained a broken left femur, pelvis, left hip, right ankle, and left clavicle, along with numerous other internal injuries. As of now, Hunter’s doctors are closely monitoring a brain bleed also sustained in the accident. Hunter’s accident will require a long road to recovery. He is expected to endure months of bed rest and physical therapy. He will need the time to process what his life will be like after he is himself again. He will not be able to work during his recovery journey, making his everyday living expenses stressful, which is not something he should have to focus on. All funds will be used towards these medical and living expenses, including days in the ICU, surgeries, and the extensive therapies needed during his long road to recovery.

Since the night of the accident, his family and friends graciously appreciate the love, support and prayers.

Hunter’s biggest joys in life revolve around the outdoors. He makes it a point always to make time for his hobbies, including golfing, hunting, and fishing. During this hunting season, he has only had the chance to hunt a handful of times. Because of what has happened to his body, he will miss the rest of this hunting season. Instead, he will spend days in bed or learning to walk again.

Before the accident, Hunter worked three jobs to pay for life's expenses as a college student. He is a Bow Technician at Scheels, a Handyman at Flat Plains, and a Bartender at Brick and Barley's. Besides all of his hobbies and jobs, he is a student at the University of North Dakota. In school, Hunter studies business and is a member of the University of North Dakota's Trap Team.

Hunter comes from a large family. He has four loving sisters; Chelsey (23) lives in East Grand Forks, Bailey (18) and is attending Moorhead State University; Josie (12) and Madelyn (8). Though all these girls keep him in line, we think he secretly enjoys it. Hunter loves to take Madelyn and Josie hunting whenever the opportunity comes up. Though Hunter is busy with work and school, he always makes time to see the girls.

If donating to Hunter’s cause is not plausible for you, spreading awareness of this page would be very much appreciated.
