We are a group of parents, community supporters and fellow educators who want to see Brain Godfrey (Mr. G), Richmond Elementary Physical Education Teacher & Vermont P.E. Teacher of the Year, attend both the SHAPE AMERICA Conference (Minneapolis, MN, April 5-10, 2016), and the SHAPE AMERICA Eastern District Conference (Atlantic City, NJ, May 21-24, 2016) where he will receive national recognition for his achievements and further professional development.

We are looking to raise both travel and expense funds within the next ten (10) days to secure transportation and hotel reservations on Mr. G's behalf, or to reimburse him directly for any expenses he has already incurred to date.
Estimated costs for both conferences are as follows:
National SHAPE America Conference April 5-9, 2016
Flight: Burlington to Minneapolis approx $450
Housing: 4 or 5 nights, $200 a night $1000.00
Registration: Covered by Richmond Elementary School ($350)
Food: 4 or 5 days $50 a day $200.00
Total for SHAPE America Trip: $1,650.00

Mr. G is an innovative physical education instructor who brings much enthusiasm and expertise to the educational programming and curriculum he designs each year for the students at Richmond Elementary School. The best part is that he approaches each day with curiosity, openness and an engaging smile.
He consistently demonstrates his vision for a healthy lifestyle and commitment to our students and school by offering a variety of activities that are creative, thoughtful, forward-thinking, community-minded and inclusive.
In addition to his teaching, program & curriculum development and family life, Brian spends countless hours raising funds, learning new skills and securing support from local businesses, non-profits and volunteers to make his programs accessible to all.
A few of the innovative programs he has offered each year include the Snow-Motion Ski & Ride program at Cochran's Ski Area w/Burton Snow Boards, Circus Night with Wunderele's Big Top Adventures, Jeh Kulu Dance Troupe, and StackFest with the World Sport Stacking Association. There are too many more to name.
Our community greatly benefits from educators like Brian. We are proud of his achievements and are grateful that he chooses to be part of Richmond Elementary, Mount Mansfield Union School District and Chittenden East Supervisory Union. Let's show him our support by sending him to the SHAPE conferences!
