Sheila was a one-of-a-kind soul—a true warrior who faced every challenge with courage and a heart full of love. Her journey was marked by a long and feisty battle, where she pushed her body to its limits and made both her "Old and New” lungs work harder than anyone thought possible. Through it all, she’d remind us with her signature mix of humor and determination why she did everything. “Love for all my family and good friends who have faithfully stood by me, but most importantly for my husband and son. They are my world and the reason I am getting a transplant. We need to be a family. I love waking up every day with my Benny. Even when I don’t feel good, I just love to be with him. When I get the call again I will once again give Ben the biggest hug and kiss on his cheek, and I will tell him that what I am about to do I am doing for him….for us."
Her strength was awe-inspiring, but it was her personality that lit up every room she entered. She was a history enthusiast with a love for uncovering the stories of the past, a goofball who could make you laugh until your sides hurt, and a fun-loving spirit who found joy in even the smallest moments. Whether she was cracking jokes, spouting words of affirmation, or sharing her quirky sense of humor, Sheila had a magical way of making everyone feel a little happier and a little lighter. Her love for history wasn’t just academic—it was a deep respect for the people who came before us and preserving the lessons they left behind. She carried that same reverence into her own life, ensuring her story was one of courage, resilience, and love. As an Army veteran, she served her country with pride and continued her dedication to others by working at the VA, helping fellow veterans navigate their own paths.
For Sheila, everything came back to her family. Her husband, Seyi (Shay), and son, Benjamin (Ben), were the center of her universe. Every decision she made, every ounce of fight she had, was for them. She poured her heart into creating a home filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
We are raising funds to support her beloved family during this heartbreaking time. These contributions will help ease the financial burden of medical and funeral expenses, and we hope to create something special for Ben—a way to carry his mom’s love and legacy with him as he grows.
If you’re able to donate or share her story, we would be deeply grateful. Your support will help Seyi and Ben as they navigate this loss and honor the incredible woman who fought so hard for them.
Sheila taught us all to live with courage, love without limits, and laugh in the face of life’s challenges. She was a fighter, a historian, a veteran, and the heart of her family. Let’s come together to celebrate her remarkable life and help carry her legacy forward.
Thank you for being part of her story and supporting her family during this difficult time.
