Mitch Mulcahy's Teachers Rock Fund

In 1997, Mitch Mulcahy began his teaching career at Taft Middle School in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He taught life and earth science at Taft for 21 years.  Along with teaching there, he was also a student at Taft when he was in middle school.  As a first year teacher, he felt that he could have benefited from support and mentoring to get established.

Mitch passed away on September 8, 2018 from metastatic melanoma - all the while being brave, strong, and funny.  To support his legacy and love of education, the family has created a fund to support first year teachers in New Mexico.  A team including his friends, family, and colleagues will help award a stipend to first year teachers to help them set-up their classrooms with supplies and necessary items to give them a great start to such an important career.

Join us as we recognize the thousands of lives that Mitch and all teachers effect on a daily basis — because Mitch always felt that "Teachers Rock!"
