Hello Everyone,
I never thought I'd be fundraising for a cause so close to home. Never did I imagine that such a devastating diagnosis would reach my loved ones. But here I am, humbly asking for assistance for my beloved partner, Richard Sartini, who as of November 2020 was diagnosed with Metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the Colon. For those of you who aren't aware, this is terminal stage 4 colon cancer. When we received this news in November 2020, we were all devastated, to say the least. Nothing hits you harder than knowing that the person you love has a limited amount of time left. Immediately, life flashes in front of you and you feel helpless not knowing what you can do. What I learned was that lots of research is going into this type of cancer, and that Richard, at the time of diagnosis, was the youngest person diagnosed with this type of cancer. He was given 2 years to live, and every day has been a process for him as well as for the rest of us. Richard is the loving father of 4 wonderful boys, 2 adult children who have been helping dad as best they can, and two 8 year old twin boys, who are trying to cope with this horrific news as best as they can. In the midst of a pandemic, we feel that things were missed. With all my heart I urge everyone to screen for colon cancer early. Every day that you wait, can mean one day less of life.
Despite this diagnosis, Richard remains positive, and he keeps living life with as much enthusiasm as possible, like the champ that he is. Not only that, he continues to give back to his community by mentoring and coaching New Haven/ East Haven kids in baseball and football. With over 20 years of giving of his time and knowledge, he has become "A Father to Four, and a dad to many".
Richard has been out of work for a year now, and though he is too proud to say anything, he needs now, the community to reach out to him so that he may continue providing for his children. As his partner, and his caregiver I would be deeply appreciative for everyone's help, love, and support. I know that Richard would be humbled as well.
