Tora needs help getting knee surgery (First surgery done!!)
Donation protected
Update!
Tora and i went to a vet in Denmark, at Brønderslev Dyrehospital, and had her first surgery on June 15th! They did a "Lateral Fabellar Suture Technique" and what that basically means is that she has a ligament prosthetic. No patella surgery needed. She's a whole lot happier, and is walking more than she has in forever.
The vet said she probably won't ever be 100% well in her leg, but she will walk without major issues and given how she's both strong and full of life, he's positive she will make a good recovery. Which is 100% what she's doing, i am very proud of her.
In a few weeks she will start rehab, from what it looks like she will have to try swimming (poor lady hates water so that'll be fun) as well as laser.
I have posted the receipt, and some images from our trip home from Denmark as well as one from the day after in the updates section. Her leg is visible, and the vet didn't put a band aid or anything on so if injuries of any kind bother you i suggest you don't look. She wears a cone as well to keep her from gnawing on her leg.
I have used absolutely all of what i had, the money donated as well as borrowing money that i will struggle a whole lot to pay off.
What any further donations would be used for is still the surgeries, as she has her other leg left to fix. It would also help me pay off my loans for all of this, which would mean i won't have to worry about her rehab costs.
I know some people would like to be fully anonymous and if you donate i will see your name, so i have made a throne account where you can donate and not have to worry about that as it's 100% anonymous.
Any and all help is beyond appreciated, just sharing goes a long way.
I am beyond grateful for all the help so far, it means everything to me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
My dog Tora is suffering from injuries in both of her back legs. She started limping, and so i decided to go to the vet.
I got her a knee brace (or apparatus, orthosis?) to help her, but while it helped one leg we noticed she started getting issues in the other.
At our visit to the vets on June 3rd (receipt in images), orthopedic specialists in Uppsala Universitetsdjursjukhus (UDS), they came to the conclusion that she would need a TPLO as well as a kneecap correction in her right leg as well as either a partial joint fusion, or depending on how severe the damages, amputation of the left leg.
If she wasn't so full of life and spunk, i would let her go but it doesn't feel ethical. She plays, eats, goes to the bathroom and is as full of joy as ever. She's fully herself, she just struggles walking. I can't live with myself if i let her go before doing everything possible to fix this, she's too mentally present for it to feel fair.
Tora means the world to me. I got her when she was 7 weeks old and we've been inseparable ever since. I don't go anywhere without her, partially because of anxiety but also because she snorts at me all offended if i do.
She pulled me out of a dark place and, as someone that struggles a lot with anxiety and other things due to my autism, her presence makes me function.
The vet told me the price to fix her right leg is inbetween 60k-80k SEK (6 260-8 347 USD).
The left leg if a partial joint fusion works would be at about the same sum, or if amputation is necessary, 40k SEK (4 172 USD)
It would be a total of two surgeries, with a three month space between for the first leg to heal.
I live on disability pension, and while i do have an insurance for Tora it doesn't cover this which is why i am asking for help.
The higher sum would be with rehab and medicine included, and the vet did say he added a bit to it for wiggle room.
I would use the money to pay for her treatments, rehab, medicines and for any complications that could occur.
If somehow the treatment isn't working, i would, in worst case, use the money to have her get a peaceful goodbye.
Should there be anything left afterwards, it would go to either more rehab or for her urn arrangements.
Even the tiniest bit helps, and if you can't donate anything, please share this.
Thank you so much for reading.
