On Saturday 23rd August, an 8 hour fitness session will be taking place at Furness Catholic ABC, Lyceum Hall, Dalkeith Street.
Raising money for the non profit boxing club, and also for Duddon & Furness Mountain Rescue Team who are building a new base.
8hrs will be split into 1hr themes - boxing, circuit training, kettlebells, HIIT etc.
Anyone can attend to join in a session, or a couple, or as Paul will be doing… all 8! Donations gratefully recieved be it in support or in participation.
A LITTLE ABOUT BOTH ORGANISATIONS
Duddon & Furness Mountain Rescue Team are fundraising for a permanent base to replace the two industrial units they rent. Though though they have now begun the basic build, they still need more to complete, pay back a potential loan, and fit out the building. Any donations would be appreciated.
The team are on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and have been since 1962. They cover an area of approximately 655km², are all unpaid volunteers, and as a charity rely on donations to provide the service they do.

**********************************************
Furness Catholic ABC is a volunteer-run, free-of-charge registered amateur boxing club dedicated to empowering youth and community members through the discipline, structure, and camaraderie that the sport of boxing uniquely provides.
Since our founding in 1957 we’ve proudly served hundreds of local participants – many of whom come from underprivileged, at-risk or unorthodox backgrounds.
We provide a safe, supportive environment where individuals of all ages can build self-confidence, stay active, and learn the values of respect, resilience, and commitment.
Coaches volunteer their time and expertise to ensure the successful development of all who attend our sessions.
As a non-profit initiative, we rely heavily on community support to maintain our facility, equipment, and offer our services at no cost to our members.
Some of our costs include:
Purchasing and maintaining equipment
Funding community outreach and diversity sessions (we conduct sessions for Special Educational Needs School, Furness Multicultural Society and provide outreach work for schools, colleges, scouts and community organisations at no cost)
Supporting amateur athletes in competitions.
Any monies / donations received are an investment in young lives and in the strength of our community. Obtaining funding enables us to continue teaching skills of dedication, discipline and respect to our attendees… skills that reach far beyond the boxing ring into life skills.
If you can, please consider supporting both organisations and making a donation by clicking the ‘Donate’ button on this page.
Thank you for your support
