Support Amanda's Healing Journey

Aloha Beloved Santa Fe Ohana and beyond,

I am reaching out to ask for support for our dear sister Amanda Maples.

Amanda has been my sister friend for many lifetimes. This lifetime, we met while working at one of my favorite places on the planet, Ten Thousand Waves. I don’t know why, but we just immediately fell in love, sister friends. For those of you who know Amanda, her beautiful smile can light up a room. She is spicy and funny and, in my opinion, the epitome of black cat energy. I loved working in a couples massage room with Amanda, her candor and humor is unmatched. We used to sit in the park and talk for hours, as they say, about everything and nothing, all at once. We would geek out on astrology and flowers and of course, our love of animals. We have stayed in touch over the years since Brian and I moved away from Santa Fe, yet each phone conversation seemed to bring more and more tragedy into her life. She is a strong and stubborn woman, and in the most recent turn of events, is ready to reach out for help and receive support from our community and beyond. If you’d like to hear a bit about her story and how you can help, please read on.

In July of 2025, our friend Amanda was in a horrible car accident. She fractured both of her wrists and sustained considerable head/brain injuries. On top of that, her car was completely totaled. Amanda did her due diligence to heal as best she could, gaining strength and movement back in her hands, but unable to return full time to the work she loved, massage. Luckily, she moonlit as a novice accountant, which helped her stay afloat financially while she healed. She walked to and from the grocery store, and would use the occasional Uber if weather was bad or the distance was too far to walk.

On the very same day of her accident, Amanda’s mother, Teresa, suffered a massive stroke and an aneurism. She was nearly dead until doctors were able to resuscitate her. She survived but is now in a vegetative state and Amanda’s step father has cut off all contact with her, and her mother is unable to respond. This has been heartbreaking for Amanda, as even though they have had their differences and disagreements, she deeply loves and misses her mother and mourns for her every day. Sadly, Amanda has also recently been estranged from her father for other personal reasons.

In January of 2026, Amanda learned she was pregnant at a very late stage in the pregnancy, one that she and her partner were not expecting, but were soon excited for. Amanda continued to nourish and care for her body as she could, and the baby was developing normally. In her last anatomy scan, the baby had a strong heartbeat and they got to find out the gender of the baby. They were happy.

At 29 weeks pregnant, Amanda found suddenly that she was bleeding, a lot of blood, more than was considered normal. She was rushed to the hospital and when they went to look for a heartbeat in the baby, there was none. Amanda had to labor and birth the stillborn child vaginally. She lost a lot of blood and nearly her life, as the unborn child within her had nearly given her sepsis. She got to hold the baby briefly after it was born, before it was taken away.

My heart breaks deeply for Amanda, this is probably one of the hardest things to go through for a woman. As her body, mind, and heart heal from this tragedy, Amanda needs our support now more than ever. Being estranged from her family, financially she has no other support besides her partner, who is also grieving the loss of their child.

I am asking for financial support for Amanda for food, rent, transportation, care; anything and everything so that the two of them may be able to focus on healing and recovering from such a tragic loss. Amanda also would love to receive some home care support, like laundry, cleaning, dishes, etc. because although there’s no baby in her arms, her body has still gone through the intense physical process of birth. If any of you bodyworkers out there wish to donate a session or two, her postpartum body could surely use the support. I am also setting the fundraising goal high in hopes of also being able to afford Amanda to purchase a new car so she will be able to more easily get around.

Thank you for taking the time to read and please hold Amanda and Abraham in your hearts and prayers in this time. Any amount you can give towards their healing is so greatly and deeply appreciated.

With Love, from Anna, Amanda, Abraham and Angel Baby
