Healing Laura

Hi! My name is Laura, some call me LuLu. I am so grateful for those of you who have donated to help me and my family treat this relapse of Anorexia Nervosa.  In 2009 I went through a treatment center for anorexia and was sexually abused by a staff member the whole time.  I still managed to stay in recovery until 2018 when I went to treatment for PTSD for what happened in that treatment center and also due to severe childhood and adulthood complex trauma.  From 2018-December of 2020, I was in an incredible and beautifully gruelling place in recovery and thriving.  I began a full-time internship as a trainee therapist and was given a workload that a trainee ethically should not have.  I asked for help from them on more than one occasion and was denied this help.  Long story short, I relapsed with PTSD symptoms and anorexia and broke down very badly.   I resigned because I could no longer function and needed treatment immediately. 

I desperately want to continue my fight for freedom but I cannot do it without your help.   

Unfortunately, eating disorders, particularly anorexia nervosa, has the highest mortality rate of ALL mental health disorders.  I REFUSE to be a part of that number so I can continue to help others.  Anorexia isn’t a choice, it isn’t vanity and it sure as hell isn’t something I want.  It’s something that started when I was younger to help me deal with severe complex trauma.  I want to get back to a place of healing so I can help set other women free.  To those of you that have donated, you’ve given me HOPE.  Your words of encouragement give life to my spirit.
