Teli's Boys!
Donation protected
I was there the day, several years ago, when Teli Raphael met the Doudi brothers. I already knew the boys and some of their situation--they lived in a very drafty, dilapidated, two room mud home. Their mama was gone all day, most days, trying to find day work. Dad was never around. The boys rarely smiled, slept on a cold dirt floor, bellies were rarely full, very dirty, and lived in a street tough survival mode.
When Teli saw them, she immediately identified the symptoms of malnourishment. Her face expressed an open, tender heart and her brain went into action figuring out what SHE could do to make changes for the boys. I think the most memorable part of that meeting, for me, was when we walked away and I could hear in her voice and see in her face that she felt very deeply that their lives were just not fair and she intended to listen and lead with her heart to change that.
Within a very short time. the boys were at Green Valley School doing placement testing. Seriously, they knew nothing academically. They could barely hold a pencil. The oldest were about 9 and 10...at that time. I witnessed them walk into that new life. They began boarding school. They seemed nervous, curious, and ready to give it a go.
I have seen them since then numerous times--the smiles are huge. They tease, They hug. They don't have the round bellies of malnourishment.
Their education is not only providing change for them in this moment. it will have intergenerational influence. They will get better jobs. They will value education for their own children. When you donate to help Teli support these kids, it is the gift that just keeps on giving.
When you donate to Teli's Boys, all the proceeds go to support 2 of the brothers. A small amount will go into their "pocket money." This is recorded on a ledger and it is available to spend at the school store. They can purchase pencils, exercise books, gum, juice, a treat, etc The next term begins January 5. Fees need to be paid prior to that.
Thank you for your support!
