Firstly thank you for clicking on to read Katie’s story, I know we all see these pages a lot.
This page has been set up for my dear friend Katie because I know so many of us want to find a way to help her.
A little bit of background about Katie’s journey over the last couple of years which explains why there is a need for this page. Just before Covid locked us all down in 2020 Katie found a lump and was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She underwent Chemotherapy through lockdown which is unimaginable. Katie then had a mastectomy and another year of treatment and was given the all clear. Katie had a big party to say F U to cancer to celebrate getting her life back and Katie’s outlook on life changed. During that next year Katie fulfilled a lifelong dream of successfully qualifying as a life coach and has helped so many women learn to love themselves again. She might not see it herself but she has changed many women’s lives for the better and she should be so proud of what she has accomplished in such a short time. Katie was doing her best to return to life as “normal” and was feeling like she has turned a corner.
Fast forward to June 2022. Katie had decided to give herself a challenge of couch to 5k and went out for a run on a Monday morning. Halfway through her run Katie had a unexpected seizure and fell into the road, luckily a driver nearby saw what had happened and rang an ambulance. Katie was taken into hospital and had a brain scan, further results and lots of tests have shown that devastatingly Katie’s breast cancer has spread to her brain. Stage 4 cancer. Devastation does not come close to the feelings those around Katie feel.
Katie had found a new love for life and wanted to live to the fullest making memories after her first cancer diagnosis (F U Carol) so this news as you can imagine has shocked her and everyone around her to the core.
As I said above, Katie’s dream now is to make as many memories with her husband and gorgeous children as possible but also to be able to have options for treatments, and these things all cost money. Katie has gone from being independent and a busy working Mum, to now not being able to be left on her own or drive - therefore has no income currently, this will inevitably cause stress and pressure to Katie and her husband Dan who should be focusing on Katie and her health at this awful time. We wanted to set up this page for Katie’s friends, family and kind strangers to contribute to show her how much she means to so many of us. If the worst happens to Katie then any money raised will go directly to the children.
Katie has raised thousands of pounds for Macmillan and make 2nds count over the last 2 years and continues to remind others to cop a feel every month. She is dedicated to supporting others and bringing meaning to her situation, always thinking of others. We now want to do the same for her. She has a blog called Katie’s World on Facebook if you want to hear more about her story directly from her.

We love this girl more than life itself and have promised her to do our best to support her in anyway we can.
