Yes, you read that right! Hopefully, before the end of this year, our sweet Samantha will receive a new heart.

 Samantha was born with a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. With this condition, the heart muscle grows thick which makes it hard for the heart to pump blood. About six years ago the muscle in her heart thickened so much that she had an open-heart surgery to have the thickness reduced. Although the surgery helped her tremendously - the muscle grew back faster than expected, bringing us to where we are now, the fast track to a new heart!
 Last year, she started experiencing symptoms signaling that her heart was getting worse. No physician in New Mexico was able to help her so she was referred to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. In order to be on the transplant list, she has to be within three hours of the Mayo Clinic. To accommodate for this, Samantha and her husband Nate uprooted their lives in New Mexico and moved to Florida. They left their new home, their jobs, family, friends, and everyday routines.
 Samantha is currently admitted while she waits on a heart- but what comes after is where we need y’all’s help! 
 Nathan would like to be with his wife consistently for a few months after her transplant which means neither of them will be working. During this time money should not be something these two have to worry about, as there will be a lot of other things going on.

Samantha is a mentor and leader, who keeps us on our toes. On a daily basis Samantha does not let this heart condition slow her down- and if you’ve had the privilege of meeting her you know first hand that she is the most hard working, on the go, ready to face a challenge woman you will ever meet.
