Archie’s Avengers!

Archie’s fight has just begun and we’d love your help.
Archie is 7 years old and was diagnosed four weeks ago with a Medulloblastoma Brain Tumour, he also has IIH (Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension), Hydrocephalus & Papilledema.
Archie is a twin and best friend to Monty. He normally attends school with his twin Monty but due to this diagnosis, he has now been out of school for an extended period and will continue to be throughout his treatment. Monty is being a huge support to his brother, but is undeniably affected by what his brother is going through and seeing this daily.
Archie’s story started when he went for a routine eye test in November last year. They noticed that he had swollen optic nerves which causes pressure behind the eyes.
The optician referred him straight to N&N hospital for further investigations. This set off a multitude of tests and numerous lumbar punctures to find out what was wrong with Archie.
Archie was then diagnosed with IIH, Papilledema and hydrocephalus in February 2023. We didn’t think it would get any worse than that, but we were wrong…
On the 1st of August, Archie had a VP shunt fitted to drain his excess CSF fluid as his body was not doing this like any normal persons would. After the surgery, Archie improved however then deteriorated very quickly. He lost 70% of his eyesight in his right eye so was referred to Addenbrooks again for further investigations.
He had numerous MRI/CT scans and has already had 3 lumber punctures since January. After this they found further swelling on his brain. They then carried out a brain biopsy which confirmed our worst fears…
Cancerous cells were found. Doctors confirmed he had a Medulloblastoma Brain Tumour. Archie’s parents are in and out of hospital at the moment and are staying with him all the time.
Our reason for reaching out to you (with Sadie & Marc’s permission) is because they began to build an extension that was to be completed over a period of two years to spread the cost. However, they now need to complete this as a matter of urgency.
The extension purpose has now changed due to this devastating diagnosis and will now be a downstairs wet room & bedroom which will allow access for a wheelchair and make life a lot easier for the family.
Any other funding will help with costs that they now incur, like travel to & from hospital, hotel stays whilst in treatment, and the general cost of living due to Archie’s parents now not being able to work their normal hours. Marc is self employed and this is obviously a difficult time to maintain his business as well as being there every step of the way for his son.
Marc (Archie’s Dad) - ‘Our journey is just beginning, but the courage and strength our little boy has shown throughout is beyond belief and is keeping us going to support him every step of the way.’
Archie has had his first round of induction Chemo and has so many more to go as well as 6 weeks of Radiotherapy in London. He is potentially eligible for a clinical trial, but the family are awaiting screening test results to see if this is a route they can take.
This little man is showing the most amazing resilience & strength we have ever seen as family & friends. He has an army of us behind him and we will support him & his family all the way. You’ve got this Archie!
If you would like to be part of Archie’s Avengers, please donate anything you can. Every penny is appreciated and will go towards making Archie’s families lives just that little bit easier as they go through each stage of this battle with their brave boy.
