Hi. My name is Elisa Waters. I am an educator, social worker, and DEI consultant. Back in 2020 I had to cancel LGBTeach Edcamp due to Covid, but we are back! This is the 8th year that LGBTeach is offering a day of learning, sharing, and networking for educators, community members, mental health professionals, camp directors, clergy, parents, and students looking to create a more inclusive, welcoming, and safe climate for all.
This conference is about looking forward and empowering people with knowledge. You can be a part of this effort by making a donation to help LGBTeach continue to provide a meaningful space to work together to celebrate what schools and community organizations are doing well and examine how institutions can continue to improve.
Unfortunately, LGBTQIA+ hate crimes are on the rise as we recently saw with the shooting at Club Q. LGBTQIA+ folks are still not safe. Trans athletes are under attack. School curriculum is under scrutiny and library books are being banned. We are hearing more and more stories of teachers being directed to remove LGBTQIA+ symbols of pride, such as rainbow flags and GSA stickers from classrooms. What this means is that our LGBTQIA+ youth are at risk.
I have chosen not to put a price on my conference as I do not want finances to be a barrier for attendees. That being said, organizing a conference for a few hundred people costs money. If you would like to contribute, it would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration; every dollar makes a difference.
