Belinda Vidaurri’s Breast Cancer Challenge

A breast cancer survivor for 35 years, our dear friend, Belinda Vidaurri’s life got slammed against the wall when she was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 HER2-positive breast cancer that is more aggressive than other forms of breast cancer. The breast cancer cells have a protein receptor called HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2). As a result, breast cancer cells grow and divide uncontrollably.

On August 21st, Belinda will have a mastectomy and reconstruction which will require two separate surgeries followed by 4 months of chemotherapy then another 6 – 8 months of Hercepton administered intravenously to treat HER2.

For those who know Belinda, you are aware of her beautiful, spiritual soul, her compassion and willingness to help and support anyone in need. In the last several years, Belinda has devoted her working life to the non-profit arena, helping to improve the lives of the underserved and senior citizen community.

Belinda has a passion for life, travel and human-interest stories. The above pictures were taken in France while she was on a writing sojourn to complete her novel about colonialism that still exists in the 21st century and of the political struggles of a Pacific Island nation’s indigenous peoples inhumane treatment of being marginalized, displaced, sequestered and diminished to become a minority in their own country.

As a writer, Belinda’s mission is to give credence to the marginalized, the overlooked and those whose voices have been silenced to be heard, read, and learned about which is crucial to bring awareness and understanding for peoples of diverse communities to know we are all more alike than apart.

A single woman, living on her own, Belinda is facing a long year ahead, possibly two years, of cancer-related expenses and items not covered by insurance like co-pays, transportation, holistic methods of alternative therapies to strengthen her body, as well as the usual day-to-day living expenses with possible loss of income.

Your donations will help Belinda focus on recovery instead of debt in the difficult days to come. During this pandemic, everyone is in need so we are grateful for any amount donated to ease Belinda’s need now and in the future. Prayers and positive thoughts are also welcomed.

With love, hope and thanks,
