Update 01/31/2018
This morning Faith Childers earned her angel wings and her crown . Now she is at the feet of Jesus and watching over all of us. With the super blue moon in the sky, she passed peacefully in her sleep, warm in her home filled with family. She filled fought a brave fight and still kept her head up through it all. All she ever wanted was for everyone, all of her family and friends to know that she loved them.
In Memory of Faith Childers please use this page to post comments to the family as well as pictures or videos for the family to remember what an amazing woman she was and how many people's lives she touched - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1568525316530111/
Donations towards a Celebration of Life would be appreciated.
Update 01/30/2018
Faith is currently receiving care at home through Hospice. At this time because of one of the tumors Faith’s right lung is completely compressed now. Due to this it has been difficult for Faith to catch her breath even though she is on oxygen 24/7. At this time her breathing is becoming more and more labored. Faith is surrounded at this time with family at her home. We are asking for prayers for Faith and her family during this difficult time. We are still requesting donations for current expenses to keep Darin home with her.
Update 12/06/17
Faith has been doing good and enjoying time with her family and friends. However she has been fighing a cough and possible lung infection for a while and today Faith is being treated at the Hospice Care Center for a lung infection. I don't know all of the details but I know she will be there for the next two or three days while they fight the lung infection with antibiotics and steroids. We are asking for everyone to please take a moment today to pray for Faith and her family. If you want to post Faith a get well message I will make sure she sees the posts on this page.
UPDATE 09/16/2017
So there has been a lot going on since the last update. On the last update about 3 weeks ago Faith was in the ICU for 4 days recovering from Pneumonia. Once she was released and feeling better Faith was able to join friends and family in Lake Oconee for a fun vacation. At the lake house we had 22 people for 4 days. Faith was able to go out on the lake in the pontoon boat for a couple of short trips. While we were there we also had a suprise 52nd birthday party for Faith!! As Faith and her family were heading home to Florida they received a phone call from her cousin saying that Hurricane Irma was heading straight to Florida and people were already evacuating the state. There was fear about the hurricane as well as gas shortages and power outages. So Darin and Faith decided to stay in North Georgia to avoid the hurricane. They were very fortunate to not have any damage to their house other than a tree that fell down on their fence and pulled their power line down for several days. All of this has caused Darin to lose several days of work and in addition they have lost all of the food in both their refrigerator and freezer.
On a more positive note Darin and Faith just celebrated their 30 year anniversary together on September 11 - so what I was thinking we as their family and friends could do is if everyone could make a donation of $30.00 in celebration of their 30 year anniversary. Even though it is only $30.00 it will really add up and help them financially if everyone donates and shares this post.

UPDATE 08/17/2017
A lot of people have asked how Faith is doing so I just wanted to post a quick update. Faith is feeling good and enjoying her Summer of Fun with her family and friends. I'm sure that some days she feels better than others and some days she rests a lot. There have been many visitors at the Childers house this summer and Faith has been able to enjoy just relaxing and visiting. During one of her family visits they even surprised Faith with a Celebration of Life photo shoot. In addition The Childers family just enjoyed a family vacation in Orlando where they spent a couple of days in Disney World and time relaxing at the hotel by the pool. I would like to say from the bottom of my heart thank you to everyone that has donated to the Childers Family and helped make this Summer of Fun possible. Please continue to keep Faith and her family in your prayers and continue to share the posts and donate if at all possible. There are still many things being planned for Faith and The Childers Family and they appreciate everything that has been done for them so much more than you can imagine.
UPDATE 06/20/2017
Faith will no longer be receiving chemotherapy and will be receiving at home hospice care, as her doctors have found that there is presently nothing more they can do to aid her in her fight against Leiomyoscarcoma. Faith’s new at-home nurse has been wonderful, encouraging her to instead see her situation as home health care, and encouraging her to keep her spirits up. The doctor’s don’t know everything, after all! Faith is a fighter and intends to do exactly that.
Faith is planning to do as much as she can with her family and friends this summer. She is a wife, a mother of three (One of her daughters even has autism, and she is her full-time caretaker), a sister, and a friend. Everyone in Faith’s life loves her immensely, and wants to spend all the time in the world with her. Every donation to this GoFundMe, the texts she has received, cards in the mail, visitors she has had, and phone calls are a testament to the support she has around her.
Faith has deemed this summer the “Summer of Fun,” and we are setting out to help her make this Summer of Fun everything she’s dreamed for it to be! We have listed below some of the things the family has planned in order to help this summer become a reality, many of which involve transportation fees, lodging, and any potentially unforeseen medical costs. Here are some of the things that are currently in the works:
● A family Disney trip in August
● Scalloping in North Florida
● Transportation to a Bahama Cruise Faith’s father has gifted her and her husband, Darin
● A trip to Georgia for a weekend visit at a friend’s lake house
● Faith’s Ultimate Dream: A visit to Yosemite National Park
Everything on this list requires funds for transportation to and from destinations, food, lodging, any living or medical fees that traveling may bring up. It would be amazing if we could raise enough money for them to have the vacation of their dreams and help support Faith’s “Summer of Fun!”
Please consider giving a donation to this kind, compassionate, God loving woman. She would never ask for anything herself, but she truly deserves anything she can dream of and so much more. Any amount will help to make this summer unforgettable for her and her family and is so greatly appreciated. If you aren’t comfortable donating to GoFundMe, you can always make donations directly to Faith, or send things like restaurant gift cards so that the family can go out together for dinners. If you would like to send directly to Faith or have any other suggestions please contact me for information at [email redacted]
This amazing family only has a short amount of time to make memories to last a lifetime. Let’s help them have the Summer of Fun that Faith wants to have with her family while she can. A Facebook page has been created for the family where pictures and comments can be posted at https://www.facebook.com/groups/thechildersfamilysumeroffun/?ref=group_cover

UPDATE 06/13/2017
The doctor has told Faith she has a lifetime expectancy of weeks to 6 months due to the damage the tumor is doing to her heart. At this time there is nothing more they can do for her with conventional methods. Due to the circumstances Faith’s doctor has made the decision to not continue with chemo. But Faith is strong and a fighter and she has no intention of giving up. We believe that God doesn’t give us an expiration date and that the doctors don’t know everything. We will continue to explore any other medical options she may have as well as any unconventional methods that may be available. In the meantime Faith will spend as much time as possible with her family, friends and loved ones. As you can imagine this is a very difficult time for The Childers family and everyone who knows and loves Faith. Prayers are greatly appreciated during this difficult time. While we still continue to pray for a miracle, we would like to raise as much money as possible for The Childers family to ensure that all of Faith’s needs are met and the family can spend as much time together as possible making memories. They have a little family vacation planned for August however they aren’t able to afford to do very much while there. It would be amazing if we could raise enough money for them to have the vacation of their dreams. Please donate towards this wonderful, kind, compassionate, God loving woman. She would never ask for anything herself but she deserves everything she can dream of and so much more.

UPDATE -
I have been meaning to post an update for a while. But today it is time - Because Faith is in the hospital again today. She woke up this morning with her heart racing and having palpitations !! Darin took Faith to the ER where her pulse was 191!! The Dr. had a hard time getting her heart rate stabilized but he did and now she is being admitted to the hospital again. She was just in the hospital a couple of weeks ago also because it was hard for her to breathe and it was due to a blood clot! So Faith is now on blood thiners by injection twice a day. She has also recently gone through radiation on the large tumor on her lung that is pressing against her heart. In addition they have started her on a new chemo medication that is only one year old. Please take a moment out of your day today to pray for Faith and her family as she continues to fight this rare cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. Also please share this post and leave a message for Faith of encouragement. Any donations to help the family will be greatly appreciated.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise money for the Childers family and assist them in the battle to fight a cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. This is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer.
In November of 2015 Faith went to hospital due to having pain in her stomach. While she was in the hospital they suspected it may be a cancerous tumor. Faith ended up seeing an oncologist who confirmed that she had an extremly rare cancer called Leiomyosarcoma which is equally rare in a patient Faith's age. Faith underwent a hysterectomy that was performed by the oncologist to ensure the cancer was contained. They also noticed there were spots on Faith's lungs. Due to the location of the spots on her lungs (one of the tumors is very close to her heart) they chose to not do a biopsy. The decision was made to monitor the spots on her lungs to see if they changed in size during chemo. Faith went through chemo with all of its side effects including many trips to doctors, the hospital and surgeries. Darin her husband took time off of work in order to be with Faith during this time which compounded to the financial struggles of her family.
In October of 2016 Faith was told that
the Leiomyosarcoma wasn't seen on the scans and that the cancer was in remission. She was told that she wouldn't need further treatment at that time but would need to be monitored for the next eighteen months to see if there were any changes.
As you can imagine this was a huge relief to the Childers family and all of their friends and extended family. Until December of 2016 when Faith went to the doctor for shortness of breath. The doctor sent her for a pet scan. The scan showed that the spots on her lungs had grown. Even though the location of one of the tumors made it dangerous to do a biopsy it was now necessary to see what they were dealing with.
The results of that biopsy were life changing for everyone that knows and loves Faith. Faith was told that the Leiomyosarcoma is in her lungs. The problem is there is currently no cure for Leiomyosarcoma. Faith was told that there is nothing the doctors can do except to buy her time. The choices she was given were 6 months to 1 year with no chemo or 1 to 2 years with chemo. She chose to fight this horrible rare disease with the chemo while we pray for a miracle. So this loving wife and mother of three young adult children (one of whom Faith is the full time caretaker for due to Autism) is now in the fight of her life and needs all of the help she can get.
Currently Faith has to go to the hospital for three days every three weeks for chemotherapy. When she returns home from the hospital she is supposed to rest at home for seven days. She can't be around anyone as she could get sick very quickly. During this time she is considered to be in the red zone and is immunocompromised.
The money raised from this GoFundMe will allow Faith to participate in any medical procedures that her doctors think may save her life. Also it will help cover expenses so Darin can continue to be by her side
while she is in the hospital. Any additional money raised from this GoFundMe will be used to make this time easier on Faith and her immediate family and to take care of any of Faith's future needs.
It is the desire of my heart that while Faith is in the fight of her life she doesn't have to worry about finances and she can spend the times when she feels good making memories with her family and friends.
If you know Faith you will agree with me that she is the friendliest, kind hearted, giving and selfless person I have ever known. While Faith would never ask for help for herself - this is the time we need to show her our support - both in prayer and financially. All of your support, prayers and donations would be greatly appreciated. If you would prefer to send directly to Faith or possibly send a gift card please feel free to contact me and I will ensure that anything you would like to send is delivered to Faith. Even if you aren't able to give anything at this time please pray for Faith and leave a few words of encouragement.
