Hi, we’re Sabrina and Michael.

We were so ready to meet our baby boy, Josiah. His nursery was ready. Our hearts were ready. Every little kick and movement made us dream about who he would be. We were just a few weeks away from holding him in our arms.

At 37 weeks, we had reached full term; a milestone we excitedly celebrated, feeling so close to the finish line. But just two days later, on Friday, April 25th, something felt wrong. I noticed Josiah wasn’t moving like he usually did. We went to the hospital right away, praying it was nothing.

When they placed the monitor on my belly, there was only silence. No heartbeat.

They started the induction soon after, and just five hours later, we held our beautiful boy in our arms; for the first, and heartbreakingly, the last time. Josiah was perfect in every way, tiny fingers, soft cheeks, a face that looked so much like his daddy’s, a nose identical to his mommy's. Our time with him was heartbreakingly short, but those moments will be treasures we hold onto forever.

We later learned that the umbilical cord had wrapped around his neck three times. There was nothing we could have done.

We are shattered. There are no words big enough to describe the heartbreak of losing a child you’ve loved and waited for.
