If you know Maya then you know that her smile lights up the room. Recently (5/25/19), Maya fell walking down a street with faulty infrastructure. It seems silly right? Someone falling and getting hurt just walking...? But truthfully, the streets all over this city (New Orleans) are tore up and neglected. It is always the people with the least who feel this impact the most! From having to repair auto damage to having to repair your 3 front teeth. And while Maya does have insurance, her insurance does not cover the oral surgery that she needed to stabilize her teeth.
While she still has a showstopping smile, this is not the condition her teeth should be in and it is also very painful and difficult to eat. Maya is slated to begin reparative surgery in September, after the immediate injuries to her mouth heal. This means no chewing for at least 4 months!
The funds raised will go directly to Maya's surgery and any additional support will be used to help her eat. (hello! She's gonna need a ton of fruits and veggies and supplements since it's basically soups and smoothies for the rest of the year.)
Luckily, her dentist has broken her surgery up into six payments so it will still be very helpful to give at a later time, even some months from now. That being said, immediate support is crucial.
Maya is one of my best friends and the realest person I know. To have to see her working three jobs just to survive and also hopefully smile the same again is NOT OKAY.
Please help me in supporting my friend! Give and share as you are able <3
