Help Linda Beat Cancer
The year 2020 was challenging for all, but for our sister, Linda, 2021 proved to be the year that changed her life in several big ways.
She lost her brother on April 3rd to an unexpected death and she got married on May 1st, ready to begin a new chapter of her life with her husband, Peter, and his three precious daughters. Then, her whole world was flipped upside down with a rare and aggressive lymphoma diagnosis.
It began with a trip to the ER a week before their honeymoon to “rule out anything serious” after a persistent low-grade fever and chest pain, which she attributed to anxiety on the heels of all that had transpired in the preceding months.
At 36 years old, Linda started her first day of chemotherapy on August 9th and has now completed her first cycle of treatment, with more cycles scheduled every three weeks. Prior to her treatment beginning, Linda had several other necessary appointments: PET scan to determine the stage of cancer; echocardiogram; and a surgery to place a port in her chest so she can receive her chemotherapy. In addition to the physical manifestation of the cancer, the chemotherapy, and subsequent medications, is an emotional drain that this type of news brings and the mental exhaustion from information overload, appointments after appointments, work missed by Peter to accompany her - both out of necessity and for emotional support, finances, family-life balance, and day-to-day living of meals, laundry, cleaning, etc. She and Peter will both attest that this has certainly been the greatest challenge of their life.
From a practical standpoint, medical bills not covered by insurance and expenses are adding up: copays for every appointment - she often has several appointments in the same day; medications; supplies; supplements; hair prosthetics; surgical procedures; the time Linda will need to take off of work; and all other household and personal necessities to accommodate a complete shift in lifestyle which is a tremendous amount of stress.
Linda is blessed to have the support of family and friends. She’s had many reach out and ask how they can help during this time of need and prayer remains the utmost priority. We don’t say this because it sounds good and humble. Linda is ABSOLUTELY feeling the peace and comfort that we are praying for on her behalf, and her strength to battle this cancer is from the Lord. So it is a very sincere “thank you” to all who have and continue to lift her up in your prayers.
We created this fund for those who want to bless Linda and Peter tangibly and we thank you in advance for sharing their burden in this way, and by doing so, lightening it to make this journey more bearable.
