Hello, my name is Deja and I've recently adopted a 13-year-old toy poodle mix dog named Princess on March 29th, 2025. She's a feisty little dog with a sweet personality.

Princess had matted fur on her chest, belly, legs, and paws. I noticed some strange discoloration on her back legs, and she was limping. She was obviously in pain and uncomfortable, and I felt the need to take action. With the help of some friends, we cut off all the mats to discover an old, infected wound on her left hind leg.

I went to the 24/7 emergency animal hospital, and the doctor told me that it is not likely to save Princess's leg through the use of antibiotics and pain relievers alone. To ensure Princess doesn't develop sepsis, I need to get her into a clinic for amputating her left hind leg.

Over several phone calls, I've been given a very rough estimate of $4,000 for the procedure. Additional costs can easily be added onto this, causing the goal to change. However, I'll give updates on Princess's well-being as time passes.

As of March 30th, I have a few appointments at a couple of clinics to find a surgeon as quickly as possible. The doctor from the emergency clinic said Princess's chance of recovery is good despite her age and how long this wound has been festering. I've been witnessing this turnaround, and some of the inflammation has dropped. Princess is strong enough to potty outside for a very brief amount of time.
