Hi! My name is Buddha and I’m 2 years old. I’m a loving, cuddly, affectionate, sweet, giant teddy bear. I have been in pain most of my life. I have a really hard time walking and can’t run because it hurts too much. I live with my sister, Jinny, who is full of energy, runs and plays catch all the time. I have to sit back and watch her have all the fun.
I saw Dr. Planté at DMV Veterinary Hospital who told me that both my knees were fractured when I was a young puppy. The fractures never healed properly. I now have osteoarthritis, tears in my ACL tendons and severely misaligned knee joints. I don’t remember exactly what happened, but he said I suffered a trauma, most likely from being hit in the back of the knees with a heavy object.
Dr. Planté explained that he could help me with surgery. Although I’ll never be able to run as fast as Jinny, he believes that I could lead a somewhat normal life. Without the surgery, he suspects that my ACL tendons will completely rupture within the next 3 months. When this happens, I won’t be able to walk because of the condition of my joints.
Jinny and I were recently adopted by a loving family who has lots of land where I could run and play. They desperately want to help me, but can’t afford the huge cost of TWO surgeries ($12,000).
I’m pleading for your help. If there is even a small amount you can contribute, it would mean the world to me. Please share this post with your family and friends. I have so much love to give and desperately want to fetch a ball!
