Hello! My name is AJ, and I am launching this GoFundMe to stop my landlord from evicting me:

For context, I fell behind on rent in September 2022 due to income reduction, resulting from the pandemic. Since then, I've made partial payments. And while I thought I had until March 2024 to pay my rental debt, there is a strong likelihood I'm not covered by LA's Covid-19 Renter Protections. Now, my landlord is pursuing an eviction — unless I can make an offer to buy it out.

Work in my industry has been SLOW. In between gigging, applying to school and dealing with the stress of reduced income and mounting bills, I feel spread thin. (Not to mention, I have to adjust the kind of work I choose because of my recent ADHD diagnosis.) Even still, times are tough, and people are suffering in ways I cannot fathom. Which makes my request for mutual aid doubly embarrassing but no less valid.

I am $10,822.39 behind on rent. Yes, you read that correctly. My outstanding balance is a little under $11K, so I need to ACT FAST. All shame and embarrassment aside, this is my last resort. Although things seem grim right now, I know that my community runs deep. And that one day I'll be able to pay help like this forward — TENFOLD. Till then...
