Autism Assist Dog for Tyler

Donation protected
Tyler on the outside looks like a normal little boy, but underneath his cheeky smile, he has what is known as the invisible disorder – Asperger’s Syndrome.

As part of Tyler’s diagnosis, he struggles daily with severe anxiety/separation anxiety, difficulty forming social skills, adjusting to even the smallest change in routine and making emotional connections with others. Combined with his Sensory Processing Disorder, Tyler requires full time support from his mother to assist with his regulation of emotions and behaviours.

Watching a four year old boy struggle with so many fears and anxieties is tough, some adults with years of life experience behind them, would find it difficult to cope with just a handful of the challenges Tyler faces every day.

And that’s where an Autism Assist Pup comes in.

An Autism Assist Dog would become Tyler’s day and night companion, trained to give him the confidence to move freely around the house, slowly building his independence. To help him participate in daily activities, knowing he has his trusted sidekick supporting him, when the anxiety becomes too much & the walls start closing in around him.

Basically, an Autism Assist Dog would become Tyler’s furry best friend who’s been expertly trained to provide a confidant and playmate, for a boy who will most likely have few friends.

Early intervention will give Tyler the best chance at a normal life; he attends multiple appointments each week including Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Dieticians and Paediatric. These appointments add up, with fees that start at $160/hour and are essential, as it teaches his mum how to lessen his anxieties & for Tyler to cope in a Neuro Typical world.

We know it’s a lot to ask for, but every little bit helps. Tyler lives with just his mum and it is impossible for her to raise these funds on her own, so we are trying to help them by raising the $25,000 for his Pup.

The Dog training is extensive and takes 12-14 months. Once we have the funds, the sooner the pup can be purchased, trained & placed with Tyler.

We really appreciated any help given to this cause & will keep everyone updated on the pups progress. A big big thanks to all.
