Hello Everyone!
For those of you who don't know, I was diagnosed with a rare progressive brain disease called Moyamoya a few months ago.
There is no known cure (yet) only surgical treatment and lifelong therapeutic management. Without treatment this disease can be near fatal.
I had a seizure earlier this year (this one being the 4th seizure I've experienced the past few years)and after seeing a neurologist and having testings done they found that I have Moyamoya.
I will be getting a bypass brain surgery August 27th at Barrows St. Josephs and will be out of work to recover for 5 weeks. My other half Brandon will also be taking some time off to help take care of me after surgery as well as staying with me at the hospital the 5 days I'll be staying there pre/post surgery. The surgery will greatly reduce the chance of stroke to only single digit numbers and will increase healthy blood flow to the left side of my brain.
Any amount you can donate no matter how small would be a really big help.
Thank you for all your prayers!
Here is a summary of this disease and how it has affected me. Moyamoya can manifest very early in a childs life, mine manifested around age 5 or 6 in "mini strokes." My middle cerebral artery on the left side of my brain is collapsed, greatly restricting blood flow and oxygen to my brain. To compensate, other smaller arteries and vessels through the brain attempt to take on the load of the blood not being circulated which can then cause severe hemorrhaging within the brain or other related issues with vessels attempting to circulate more blood than able.
Moyamoya Disease/Syndrome causes a wide range of psychological and physiological issues including :
Seizures, Strokes, Depression, Anxiety, Personality Changes, Memory issues, Cognitive issues etc.
