Storytime! Well, backstory time.
I had a breast reduction, pretty drastic one, back in February of 2022. Got my one year followup Mammogram in late February of this year and everything looked great. I just turned 40 last December.
My surgeon was pretty adamant about every time you’re in the shower take the time to do a self check. So more often than not I do follow that advice. Sunday July 30th I followed that advice. Felt great and went about my day. Around 130 the next morning I had rolled over onto my right side and something didn’t feel right. So I investigated and felt a grape sized lump on the right side of my right boob. Ok, I thought, I’ll keep an eye on this. Probably nothing. 430am I woke up again, and the lump seemingly got bigger. There’s no way. I’m crazy. I’m going back to sleep. I woke up at 730 with a lump the size of a tangerine and decided to call into the doctor. So now after a few trips to the ER, a few ultrasounds, an FNA attempt, antibiotics, a biopsy, and a mammogram…I was diagnosed with an Invasive Ductal Carcinoma; Stage 2b/3 breast cancer, with a side of a very angry lymph node or two up into my armpit. After some pretty intense scheduling from my two doctors, I started chemotherapy and immunotherapy Wednesday August 23rd. I’ve lost family and friends to this, but I still have many loved ones that have been through this battle and won. My song isn’t finished yet. And it’s time to kick some ass. Peace, love, and FCk cancer.
