Help Pete Fight Cancer!

Hi, my name is Drena Steave, and I am fundraising for a family in need.

When I moved to Austin in 1999, one of the first people I met and connected with was Linda Ortega. She has been a constant in my life since that day and I would do anything for her and her family and she would gladly do the same for me.

Now this family that I love so dearly is in need. Linda’s husband Pete, at a young 38 years old, was recently diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. Because Pete was born with only one functioning kidney, this diagnosis has been especially stressful for Pete and Linda. The most experienced surgeons must perform his surgery as it is extremely high risk and surgeons have just 20 minutes to complete the surgery before the kidney loses function.

As you can imagine, this type of surgery is costly, and payments are required upfront. Pete and Linda have exhausted all of their financial resources to save Pete’s life, and I am trying to help ease some of that burden so they can focus on his treatment and ultimate healing.

Pete has worked hard to provide for his family and would never ask for ANYTHING, which is why I am asking on their behalf. He is a business owner so the bulk of the payments for his treatment have been out of pocket.

Pete grew up in foster care, beat the odds, worked hard, became a master plumber, and opened his own business. He believes in working hard to get ahead in life and he has done precisely that.
