Hi, my name is Ariel and I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Nova. She’s 3 years old and truly the love of my life—my child in every way that matters.

Recently, Nova was diagnosed with a serious condition that requires urgent surgery costing around $10,000. She has fluid in her spine caused by her cerebellum being pushed downward. Instead of sitting at the base of her brain where it should be, her cerebellum is pushed in where it shouldnt be. This causes painful nerve sensations that make her feel constant "itching"—which is really a response to the intense tingling and discomfort she feels. It’s so severe that without daily medication, all she would do is scratch herself endlessly in distress.

The only way to relieve her pain and improve her quality of life is through surgery—essentially brain surgery. It’s costly because of how delicate and complex the procedure is. Without it, Nova will progressively lose the ability to walk, swallow, and function, and her condition will only get worse.
