Doug’s Road to Recovery

Donation protected
For those who know the Collins Family you know how caring and giving they are.  Having experienced a similar life changing event with a self employed spouse I know how helpful this truly was.

Jodi’s words:  Doug had a stroke in the middle of the night on July 12-13th. We had to get up early on Monday to have bloodwork taken. He has not been feeling good for a while and he had been in and out of the ER and his doctors offices. Monday morning I could not wake him. He was breathing but not conscious. We called 911 and he was taken to Mt St Marys for the third time. His first visit was May 31, 2nd visit July 4th and then the 3rd visit July 13th. That is how long Doug had been receiveing some kind of Doctors directions and mis diagnosis. His ER visits consisted of, 1 Water in the Ears, (left Mt St Marys with meclizine) 2. Vertiigo. He saw Dr Perique for the ears after the 1st visit and he said it is ablsolutley has nothing to do with inner ear. The meclizine helped with Dougs Spells. He had these crazy spells. He would get dizzy (NOT room spinning dizzy) very very hot and sweat a lot he also had a headache and always felt like something was not right in his brain. He controlled the spells with the meclizine and went on about his day. Alot of the testing he had came back fine. CAT scans did not show anything and bloodwork all seemed ok except kidney function and Carbon dioxide levels where elevated somewhat. His primary Dr Trock and a neurologist Dr Sing (same office same day) saw Doug Tuesday July 7th. This was the first day after the July 4th spell Doug was able to go because he was so weak and still not well. We left that office visit with some bloodwork, a mri in the works waiting for insurance approval and talk about doing a CAT scan of the stomach. At this point Doug had no choice and decided to take the week off and try to relax. Friday July 10th he had his CAT scan of his abdomin. It showed some signs of concern (waiting on this till he is better but monitoring it) and we had bloodwork ordered for Monday.

Currently Doug is in ICU at Buffalo General. He had an MRI immediately. The MRI confimred multipile strokes through out the brain. His clot is in the Vertebral artery. They call it Vertebral artery thrombosis. He had a large stroke in the Cerebellum and around both sides of the thalmus. Some other areas of concern were also noted but those are the two main concerns they seem to focus on. He is making small improvements but he does have some residual affects that will require rehab.

Both Jodi and Doug are self employed and Jodi will be taking some time off to take care of Doug, Austin and the many aspects of their young lives.  Many times people have benefits and things to help, but in light of COVID 19 that is not a option therefore I put together this Go Fund Me to help relieve some of the financial burden.  Please pray for Doug, Jodi and Austin and help if you are able.
