Sex Worker Solidarity: Networks of Caring and Sharing
Donation protected
My name is Lauren Levitt, and I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California Riverside. I recently signed a contract with NYU Press for my book, Solidarity among Sex Workers: Networks of Caring and Sharing. Utilizing interviews with sex workers and participant observation with sex worker organizers, and drawing on feminism and queer theory, this book shows how sex workers create non-biological kinship structures and engage in non-capitalist caring and sharing practices to manage precarity, stigma, and criminalization.
I am raising $15,000 to publish this book open access so that everyone can download a digital copy for free. It is very important to me that this book is available to all, especially members of the sex worker community. If published in paperback format, the book would cost around $35. If only 429 people who wanted to read the book donated $35 each, it would be free for everyone.
If you are interested in this project and have the capacity, please consider donating. Even $5 helps. And if you are not able to contribute but are still interested, please share with your networks. I want everyone to be able to access this book!
Disclaimer: No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or promotions are offered in exchange for any donations made to your GoFundMe.
Edit: Thanks to a generous donation, I have now met my goal. Thank you to everyone who donated!
