Support for Jerry and Michelle in Memory of Emily
My name is Melissa, and I am raising funds for my cousin Jerry and his wife Michelle, who experienced an unimaginable loss when their beloved 17-year-old daughter, Emily, passed away on January 2, 2025.
On December 28, Jerry and Michelle received a devastating call: Emily had suffered an overdose and was without oxygen for an hour. Paramedics were able to revive a faint heartbeat and pulse and rushed her to Chilliwack Hospital, where she was admitted to the ICU. Emily was placed on numerous machines to keep her alive, but the damage was irreversible.
Emily was a bright, caring soul who touched so many lives with her kindness and empathy. She was a huge animal lover, a fashion diva, and someone who brought joy and creativity to everything she did. Emily also had big dreams for her future: after graduating, she planned to become an early childhood educator, working with children aged 3-5 years old or in after-school care programs. Her love for others and her ability to connect with people, especially children, were a testament to her beautiful heart.
In the face of this tragedy, her family made the incredibly selfless decision to donate her organs. For six heartbreaking days, they stayed by Emily's side, watching over her as she lay unresponsive, surrounded by tubes and machines. On January 2, Emily's heart was stopped, and she was escorted by her family in an honour walk to the operating room. Her organs were donated to recipients in need, ensuring Emily's legacy would live on in the lives she saved and in the hearts of everyone who loved her.
While Jerry and Michelle grieve the loss of their daughter, they are also faced with significant financial pressures, including end-of-life arrangements for Emily. I am hoping to alleviate some of their burden so they can focus on healing and honouring Emily's memory.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide comfort and support during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and love for this family.
