Sallie's vet bill

On January 8th, our dear friend Steve Wolford was taken from us in a tragic car accident.  If you knew Stevo, you know his dog Sallie.    While Stevo's wife Melody was in  West Virginia for the funeral, Sallie slipped away from her sitter and was hit by a car.  Fortunately Sallie's sitter and a kind young man in the neighboorhood who witnessed what happened, were able to locate her right away and get her help at the Emergency vet clinic (no thanks to the driver who hit her and bolted).  Once the services were behind them, Melody's folks were able to break the news to her about her beloved Sallie; at that time Sallie was still in the hospital, here in Richmond, VA.

Sallie lost a back leg and underwent 3 surguries in total (initial with amputation, bladder repair and finally repair to another leg) with a week's stay at the vet's.   She is now home with her Mommy Melody, getting lots of love and special care.   She is doing well, having a little trouble finding her appetite and learning how to get around again. The hardest part for Sallie may be over, but now the vet bill hits.  If you can help in anyway, I know it would be so appreciated by all of Sallie's family and friends.  At this time the bill is upwards of $8,000 and there will undoubtedly be some aftercare expenses.
