Thank you for taking the time and reading about my lifelong friend, Tom Kelly and his desperate need of financial support from friends, family and anyone that has an extra few dollars to spare. Before explaining what happened yesterday, I’d like to paint a picture of the life challenges Tom is dealing with. Tom recently laid his dear mother Diane to rest, he received news that his father was diagnosed with terminal cancer, he has been battling depression not being able to live with his 6 year old son with autism and his vehicle was just stolen a few weeks ago with everything that was valuable to him inside of it. I know we all have challenges in life but Tom just can’t seem to catch a break and has really hit rock bottom mentally, financially and now physically. Toms therapists suggested he take up a sport or activity to help him get his mind off these troubling times so he had just recently gotten into mountain bike riding. Now to tom’s accident that happened yesterday. Tom was riding his bike with his nephew in the local hills yesterday evening and when he was coming down a trail that crossed over the street, he misjudged a turn and crashed faced down on the street. He was knocked unconcious and we are not sure if he was hit by a car. He is in ICU and the doctor just gave us his list of injuries. - Broke both orbital bones (eye sockets) - Broken nose - Fractured t4 in his back - Fractured his left side of his forehead and the back right of his skull - Brain trauma -Fracture sternum -Tore the back of his throat - Multiple teeth have been knocked out - Road rash all over his face The doctors say Tom may not make a full recovery and that time will tell. We are obviously praying that he will eventually be able to live a normal life again and we are doing everything we can to help take some of the burden off of him that will be facing a very long recovery ahead.
