Hi friends!! 

You may have seen, my house got hit pretty hard by the rains on Monday, January 25th. I was in the middle of cooking, pans on the stove, things in the oven, and I noticed the water really coming down and getting high in the street out front. I went to put towels by the front door, then the back door, and by the time I turned around, water was coming in! Within about 15 minutes, the water rose to 3 feet everywhere in my house. Food was still on the stove!!! Jujubee swam through the living room! A car floated down the street! It was nuts!!!! 

I've had to toss almost all of my furniture, my bed, and honestly, a lot of junk! My car was flooded. It's running but is having some electrical issues. I have to replace my wood floors, have electrical work done, and do a ton of wall repairs and paint. I estimate the cost of just getting my house livable again to be about $20k. Unfortunately, I don't have flood insurance, and it's unclear how much will be covered right now by my home insurance. On clean-up alone, I've already spent about $7500 on flood mitigation, junk removal, car cleaning, cleaning supplies, and environmental testing.

I appreciate every single check-in, offer to help, helping hand, and positive thought. I feel incredibly loved and part of the most awesome community. I'm in great spirits, which is surprising. Mostly, I feel incredibly happy that my dog, my chicken, at least one stray cat, and I are all safe. I feel rich with love and support from all my friends. THANK YOU!!!!!!
