Help Jenn fix her car and get back to work!

Hi, my name is Jenn Hubert. (The photo is of my adorable doggo, Susan!) I greatly appreciate your taking the time to read my story. I have been on social security disability since 2009. My disability is primarily due to a sacroiliac joint disorder, for which I underwent surgery in 2006 to fuse the joint. The surgery failed, so we tried again in 2008. This attempt failed also. As a result, I’m left with a great deal of chronic pain. Both sitting and standing are difficult and increase my symptoms. I also have fibromyalgia, a condition that causes pain, in addition to other symptoms such as fatigue and brain fog. In a nutshell, I am never not in physical pain. Which is why DoorDash has been absolutely PERFECT for me! I can go out and work when I feel well enough to do so, I can end my shift and go home at any time if I’m struggling, and there is no prolonged sitting or standing. To be quite honest, I really love it! My only complaint is that I didn’t start doing it sooner! All I need to do the job is a car!

On Sunday 12/15, I was on my first delivery of the day when my brakes on my 2012 Hyundai Accent failed. I had just replaced the alternator on Thursday 12/12! I have been planning to replace the car this upcoming year, when I sell my home and downsize.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to buy anything new yet, nor to make the repair…but without the repair, I can’t make money. Like many people do, I live paycheck to paycheck, dash to dash, due to my disability. I had already fallen behind this month because of the alternator issue…it died on 12/1 and it was repaired on 12/12. I was only able to do two dashes before this new issue popped up.

Before you say “hey, this sounds familiar!!”, yes, I did have to crowdfund last year for car repairs as well. Currently, I just need to get the old girl to make it for another 6 months or so, as I’m planning to sell my home and get something smaller which will free up funds for a newer vehicle.

Now that I’ve been forced to stop dashing again, I’m falling completely behind on bills, and am unable to afford my medications, not to mention unable to the car fixed quickly.

If you know me personally, you know how much I despise asking for any type of help, especially financial. The fact that I had to do this last year, and again this year, makes me feel ill. But I know that I have an incredible village of loving souls that cares for me. So I need to lean into my village just one more time, to help me get the repairs done and my other bills paid.

I’ve set a goal of $5000 because I do not know yet what the brakes will cost to fix, and until they are fixed, I’m unable to work. The sooner I can get my car back in drivable condition, the sooner I can get back to work! Every single dollar is appreciated!!
