I find myself in a situation that I’ve never faced before, and I truly hope to never encounter again. I need to share the story of a very close friend of mine who is bravely fighting stage 4 metastatic cancer. Jon received his diagnosis on September 11, 2024, and since that moment, he has shown incredible strength and resilience in this battle. By his side is his wonderful wife, Brendalie, who has remained his unwavering support through it all. She is not only a devoted partner but also a cherished friend who dreams of growing old with him. The good news is that Jon's treatments are showing promise, and it’s uplifting to see the power of prayer and determination at work. His health is improving, and his numbers are getting better, which is a source of great hope. However, there is a weight that they are carrying. When Jon was diagnosed, he had just started a new job, and because of that, they are facing a significant lapse in health coverage. This has resulted in over $30,000 in uncovered medical expenses, an overwhelming burden for anyone to bear, especially when focusing on saving a life. Jon and Brendalie are fiercely self-sufficient and have never been one to ask for help. I completely respect their independence, but it breaks my heart to see them struggle alone. I am reaching out to our community, hoping that together, we can lend a hand during this incredibly challenging time. Let’s come together to support them, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: Jon’s treatment and their future. Life is unpredictable, and while we cannot guarantee tomorrow, we can show them that they are not alone in this fight. Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in their lives.
