My name is Rochelle Satow. I am the daughter of W. Randy Dick. On Oct 1, 2025, while riding his motorcycle to his new job at University of Florida Scripps-Howard, a job he loved, he was coming to a stop at a red light and was hit and killed instantly by a pickup not paying attention. My dad was only 68.

My parents would have been married 47 years next year. My dad was everything to my mom.

My dad was the sole breadwinner in the household on top of taking care of the house, fixing everything himself.

With the accident being devastating enough, we have come to find that the person who killed him will not face any criminal charges and he was only covered in insurance for $10,000. Which means he is walking away after killing my father basically unscathed. He has no assets to speak of outside the house he owns, which in FL is a protected asset.

We can attempt to file a civil wrongful death suit, but because he has nothing, we will end up spending more on the case, to not recoup anything in the end.

My dad had some life insurance, but not enough to cover not only all that comes with his dying this way. Myself, my sister, and my brother are doing everything in our power to help her during this time emotionally and financially.

This is beyond unfair and my mother should not have to struggle even more because of a negligent and irresponsible person.

Randy, our dad, was an amazing person. He said things like they were, was unapologetic about it, and lived every day like his last. He has left a mark on this world and the people in it more than anyone could ever know.
