Brent C. Schepleng; grew up in Rosedale, Maryland with his mom, dad and sister. As he grew older he realized that his dream was to serve his country as a United States Marine. So, at age 17 he signed his papers and was ready to go. He was so excited, he received his orders and was ready to ship out on June 23, 1987. June 2, 1987 Brent graduated from Overlea HS and had his future in order, but on June 3, 1987 his dreams were shattered. Brent and some of his friends were in a car accident and Brent, the only one injured, was flown to University of Maryland, Shock Trauma Unit. Doctors told us he would probably not make it through the night. He had a serious brain injury and part of his brain and skull had to be removed.
Every year Brent has gone to Camp Greentop which allowed him to enjoy time away and give him the opportunity to socialize with others who struggle with the daily challenges of life, that we take for granted. Within the past few years the funding has diminished and we had to revert to our own savings and help from family and friends. It is very expensive, since he goes for 4 weeks. Someone told me about this website and we are giving this a try. Thank you
