As you may know I was driving along 95 South on Tuesday evening and saw an emaciated dog standing in traffic. I pulled my car over and tried to get her to come to me but she ran up a hill and into a neighborhood. I got off the next exit and went looking for her. I saw a box truck pulled over and two young guys standing on the street, I pulled over to ask if they had seen her and they told me they were able to get her into the backyard. They almost hit her as well and they wanted to find her.
I got out of my car to see how she was and I discovered this very scared girl whose bones were sticking out, bald spots, mange and just looked defeated. One of the guys and I were talking and were scared to call the town because we didn't think they would give her a chance.
The guy said he was going to try and pick her up. I ran to my backseat and got the blanket that my dogs sit on. He was able to get close to her and she sniffed around and then allowed him to touch her. She immediately went over to him and rested her head on him. The guy said he was scared to pick her up because he might break a bone. The little girl was carefully picked up, I asked where he was going and he said he was taking her home. I didn't get their names and all I know is they work for Elite Home Delivery and one of them has a dog named Zeus (I think). These two young guys were so upset and genuinely worried about this poor little pup and went out of their way to find this girl to make sure she was safe. Two amazing and compassionate people.
I have not been able to stop thinking of all of this since it happened so last night I started emailing rescues and hospitals to see if anyone brought her in. This morning I received an email from Erika who is the Director at The Providence Animal Control Center and there was a dog that was turned in who was now with an animal hospital they work with. It looks like this little girl is going to need surgery plus everything else she needs to be treated for.
I don't know why I feel the need to help this girl but I do. Maybe its because she was thrown away like a piece of trash and I want to be apart of her second chance or maybe its because pretty much everyone in my family has rescued a dog/dogs, including Ryan and I. Any donation is not too small and will definitely be for a great cause. Thank you for taking the time and visiting the page.
Also, donations can be made to The Providence Animal Control Center!
