Help Bonnie Fight for Her Life

Hi - I'm not sure where to begin, but will start with a little background as to why I am creating this gofundme page.

Yesterday evening around 7pm, 11/19, we noticed Bonnie not eating or drinking. While checking on her, we noticed her tummy was yellow-tinged. We immediately noticed her eyes and gums were also yellow and rushed to the closest 24-hour vet emergency room. They immediately completed a blood panel and confirmed she had jaundice - the blood work came back with extremely high levels in her liver and gallbladder. The average (normal) range was 0.04-0.06 and she was at 12.04. The emergency vet opted to keep her overnight and hook her up to IV and pain meds/antibiotics. They recommended we see a specialist the following day once we picked her up at 7:30 the next morning.

Unfortunately, the situation did not go as planned, we got home around 11pm and then received a call at 1:30am stating she was not improving, her levels had actually increased to over 15 and if she hit the 20-30 range, it would have fatal neurological problems. They asked us to pick her up and rush to the ER in Sugar Land, which was an hour away from where we were. They had a specialist that could complete an ultrasound to determine the underlying cause of the jaundice and spiking levels. We have been at the ER since 4am 11/20 and received the bill for her medical treatment and testing.

We have already emptied our savings and maxed our credit cards to get to this point in her prognosis, however, up until this point they still didn't know what the cause was or how to treat it. They have now come forward with 3 possible scenarios: pancreatitis, hydrohepatosis or an obstruction to her gallbladder. The first two scenarios require heavy duty antibiotics and 4-6 weeks of aftercare with medicine she will need to take at home. If it's the latter, it will require surgery and additional care. They wanted to take a sample of her liver and kidney to take for testing, but her blood is not clotting and they deemed it would be fatal if they were to try.

Bonnie is the first dog Lawrence and I got - a dog appeared at Lawrence's job and proceeded to have puppies and then abandoned them a day later. Half of the puppies did not make it through the night, but Bonnie was a fighter. He brought her home after day 3 and we cared for her around the clock to make her strong and healthy. We have now had Bonnie in our lives for a solid 8 years, her having turned 8 on October 10th of this year. She is the perfect dog, always ready to cuddle and always ready to eat. She's our fatty girl, though not right now as whatever is causing this has made her skin and bones. It's breaking our heart to see her this way and we pray for an improvement.

The quoted estimate for the vet care is between 7-14k (7k being for the first two scenarios, 14k being the latter/surgery). We have paid over 5k out of pocket for the initial vet visits and testing. We have just paid an additional 6k for her first 2-days at the specialist/ER, ultrasound and medicine/feeding tube.

Our family is hurting, but more than anything, Bonnie is hurting. She is our pride and joy; the good in the world that is so hard to find anywhere else. She has only ever known us and we have only ever known her. I would give her the world if I could afford it, she definitely deserves it.

If you know Lawrence or I, you know Bonnie is the greatest joy we have ever had the privilege to love. We are asking for any kind of donation to help facilitate her treatment and bring her back home where she belongs.
If you can't afford to donate, I understand and just ask that you keep Bonnie and our family in your thoughts and prayers.

This is an extremely difficult time for us and the situation is still raw as it continues to unfold. Thank you for your time reading this and please understand that I am eternally grateful for any help we might receive.
