Funeral Expenses for my Mom

My mom unfortunately suddenly passed away in the hospital on September 23rd after a very, very long battle with illnesses due to her immunocompromised state. My brother and I have, to be completely blunt, next to no money to our name. We have no means of paying any of these expenses. After everything my mom has done for my brother and I, her friends, her family, and her community, she deserves to have a proper sendoff beyond just a meager mention in passing at a weekly mass. She deserves to have a wake filled with her many loved ones where we may all convene, celebrate, and honor her life while reflecting upon the ways she touched our lives and a funeral / burial to say goodbye till the next time we shall be reunited with her.

The breakdown of costs is as follows:

$3820 for the direct cremation, wake, and burial at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home and St. Anthony's in Nanuet respectively. St. Aedan's has generously offered to do the mass free of charge for us in such a dark period of time for me and my family. We are eternally grateful for their extreme compassion, kindness, and generosity in such trying times.

$6180 for roughly 3 months worth of expenses. In that bought time, my brother and I are going to focus on saving up entirely and by December, I am expecting roughly $4000 to come in which should immensely to that end. However, I need to make perfectly clear and can not stress enough that this additional money is not a priority. My priority by and large is making sure my mom has a proper send-off in which we can all come together to both celebrate her life and mourn her absence as her loving family, friends, and community that she gave so much to throughout her life. I will find some way to get us out of this if need be, I always do. It would just be immensely helpful if this was one less stressor during such a dark time for my brother and I, especially as I want my little brother to be able to take time off of work.

To anyone who donates, you have no clue how much this means to us when we are in such a vulnerable position. To all of the family and friends who have helped me get affairs in order, I appreciate your patience and understanding with a, quite frankly, fairly young man who now has to navigate burying his mom. To all of the family and friends who have been a support system, all the way from letting me express my feelings to staying overnight with me the night my mom passed, it means the world to me and my brother to know that people have our backs.
