Ryder's Vet & Surgery expenses

Some of you may know that I got a new puppy about a week ago. His name is Ryder and he is the sweetest friendliest little guy ever! Well he has been going everywhere with me including work at the kiteboarding area in Foster City (3rd ave.) He loves it there, run ,play swim, people, dogs etc. So Wednesday i arrived at noon a few hours before my lessons started so we could play. I was throwing his frisbee and he was playing- off leash- when just so happens a friend/student of mine ran by with their large dog -on a leash....Ryder being a puppy and thinking all dogs want to play took chase after them. I called for him but no use, so i ran after them to get him. The other person was doing all they could to keep their dog from mine but it was no use because Ryder ran up to the other dog before i got to him....in an instant he had locked onto Ryders upper jaw and nose and was not about to let go. So i immediately shoved my hands into his mouth between his teeth to prevent him from biting any deeper and tried to pull open his jaws, to no avail. Both of us tried furiously to separate the dogs, hitting punching, pulling etc. Not happening. As my hand was getting crushed ididnt care, it was all that was preventing him from biting off Ryder top jaw and nose. I could hear bones breaking(not mine) and flesh ripping...it was truly horrific. Finally somehow he let go of my dog and in a flash it was over. Both of us pumping with adrenaline went separate ways, when i caught up to Ryder by my car he looked terrified and shocked but at first it seemed like no major injuries on his face....until i opened his mouth to see his jaw severed and nose floppy on front of his face! F@#k! I thought as ithrew him in car to rush to ER...anyways, he has been there for 2 days until a dental specialist surgeon could take him today at 7am...he was in surgery for 5 1/2 hrs to reconstruct his nose and jaw.   It went good and hopefully home tonite to begin a long recovery...so please wish him the best and rhankyou all for your care and support thru this nightmare...
Id like to add that in no way was the other person at fault and i dont have any ill will to them or their dog, they have been very helpful and responsible in the whole matter and i am very glad and appreciate all they have done to help me both $ and mentally supportive....
I just had to post this because i cant bear to relive the situation over and over explaining to everyone who asks...and my hand will be fine in a few days too...thanks everyone!
Update- Ryder went in  for a second surgery today(Monday) because some of the wounds had ripped open in roof of his mouth, the Dr. had little to work with since their was so much damage to the bones and missing teeth on both sides so he had to cut skin flaps from his cheeks to pull across and cover gaps in roof of the mouth....he is home now recovering but it will be long and difficult road ahead....a month of feeding him through a tube in his neck and the ridiculous cone around his head too! So far the vet bills and surgeries have  come to a little over $10,000 and there might be further expenses...so if you can help out we are very grateful and Ryder is too! Thanks everyone  for your love and support......
