Fighting for Emily
Donation protected
On behalf of Emily Cowan, her family is seeking monetary donations to fund medical expenses for her recovery and rehabilitation, not covered by health insurance. At upwards of $2000 per day in hospital expenses, along with an undetermined amount of time in a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center that specializes in her type of injury, the estimated total cost of her stay and recovery will be $250,000-$500,000. This rehabilitation is critical to her future well-being and will greatly increase her chances of a full recovery. Emily’s family is praying for a generous outpouring of donations to facilitate paying for these extraordinary costs.
Emily is a beautiful and brave 31yr old mother of 2 precious little boys from Tennessee. On June 14th, for unknown reasons, Emily went into sudden cardiac arrest and suffered injuries due to oxygen deprivation. Miraculously, she survived and has continued to fight every day since. Showing us daily that she is not willing to give up and she is slowly regaining cognitive functions and showing us purposeful responses. On Fathers Day we witnessed our 1st miracle when she opened her eyes for our father, squeezed his hand on command and even lifted her arms when he told her it was Fathers Day and he needed a hug! In response to that day, her sister Sarah created a 15 min long audio/video of her boys talking, playing and laughing together for her to listen to every day. That has become a beacon of strength for Emily and every time she hears her babies voices, the Phoenix inside of her gets stronger and works harder to rise! We have 100% faith in God that He will continue to heal Emily and she will be reunited with her boys soon.
Emily is a joyful, incredibly strong and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Anyone that meets Emily loves her immediately and is thankful to have her in their life. She is passionate about helping others, after overcoming an addiction herself several years ago. Emily’s life mission was to help other recovering mothers when her cardiac event happened and was even working towards getting her certification to become an addiction counselor. This was NOT a drug related event and Emily takes great pride in her sobriety. She is passionate about this after suffering many injustices by DCS and the court systems throughout her own recovery. Emily wants to put an end to the prejudices surrounding addiction rehabilitation and the reunification of mothers with their children. For 3 yrs she has fought to get her own children back in her arms and to date has yet to have that happen. Emily won in court, once again, the day after her cardiac event but unfortunately, was not able to see justice finally served. It will be waiting for her when she recovers though...and oh what a beautiful day that will be.
Family and friends of Emily have started multiple prayer chains over the past 4wks and we now have thousands and thousands of people, from all over the world, fervently praying for her complete and restored health. We ask that everyone continue to pray. Pray for daily healing, pray for us to find answers as to what caused this, pray for wisdom in her doctors, pray for the strength that our family needs right now and pray for her little boys because they need and deserve to have their mommy!
We also ask that you pray for those who continue to try and place harm on Emily. Those that doubt her capabilities and those who do not and never have had her best interests at heart. The biggest tragedy those people will face is when they one day realize how wrong they all were and how detrimental their actions have been to the biggest loves of Emily’s life, her little boys. I promise that someday, her ENTIRE story will be told for the whole world to hear and it will be one that changes the way that recovery is looked at forever. That is OUR vow to Emily because we believe this to be true for her...
“One day you will tell your story of how you’ve overcome what you went through and it will become part of someone else’s survival guide.”
We ask that you please consider making a donation for this critical next step in her recovery and help us bring Emily home! Emily has dedicated so much of her life to helping others and now she needs YOUR help!
