Carter The Great

Welcome dear friends and family. We are friends of Sarah and Michael Porcaro and we are raising funds for their darling son Carter. Carter is 15 months old and has just been diagnosed with a grade III malignant anaplastic ependymoma in his brain. 


Carter's story began just a few short weeks ago in late September 2015 when his grandmother noticed that he was losing his balance when walking. Several doctors visits later, the cause of his imbalance couldn't be identified. An MRI scan was ordered and immediately following the scan, Sarah and Michael received the devastating news. Carter had a brain tumor and fluid collecting in the ventricles of his brain. Every parent's worst nightmare. Within 24hrs of hearing this heart wrenching news, baby Carter was in a UCLA operating room, while his parents, family and friends, waited desperately for an agonizing 8 hours. The surgeons were able to drain the fluid and remove 90% of the tumor. A long road awaits them now including future surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. One this family is prepared to take for their beloved son.

As their friends and family, we desperately want to do something, anything to help. And though it is difficult for this family to be on this part of the equation, we have all agreed to set up this GoFundMe account. The funds raised will go towards the colossal medical bills which unfortunately have begun to accrue.

Sarah and Michael don't have the words to thank all those that have reached out to show their love and support over these past few weeks. They are overwhelmed by the amount of love and concern they have received from people they are yet to call friends. They are beyond grateful for your donations and kindness and will forever be indebted to you. They, like so many other families touched by cancer, are so undeserving of this evil disease, but to know there are so many people wanting to help lift their spirits and give them strength to go on and fight another day means more than you will ever know.
