Atwater Family Care Fund

For Willis Atwater-

 

Our precious Willis is fighting hard to recover from a traumatic brain injury. Willis is 23 years old and a student at the University of Alabama. He is a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. On September 5, 2021, following the Alabama v. Miami game in Atlanta, Willis was struck by a hit and run driver in a crosswalk in Buckhead Square resulting in his injury. He was crossing the street with friends and strangers doing nothing wrong. We will forever be grateful to the marine, nurse and others who cared for him until the ambulance arrived. Willis was initially treated at Grady Memorial in Atlanta and was recently transferred to the Shepherd Rehabilitation Center. All of the doctors and staff treating him have been wonderful. Willis is from Huntsville, Alabama. During the summers he works alongside his father and grandfather at Huntsville Decorating Center and spends time with his mother, a kindergarten teacher, and his sister (in the photo above). Willis has never met a stranger, is always the first to help others and is just an overall kind, outgoing, thoughtful person.

 

The outpouring of love, support, prayers and offers of assistance have been heart-felt and overwhelming for his family. We now have a better understanding about the extent of Willis’s needs for continued care, attention and specialized support and equipment, and have humbly decided to use this path for those who have offered assistance. We cannot state a sum certain, which is required by this site, at this time. What we do know, however, is that our God is an awesome God who hears all of our prayers and can do all things. So please, pray for Willis and know that our gratitude for your love and support cannot be reduced to mere words.
