Hi Im Eric, a 45 year old, single father of a 16 year old girl and 12 year old boy, whom I love very dearly. I presented to foothills emergency department on February 19th with severe shortness of breath, a very bloated belly, and tons of pain. This caused me to have an acute kidney injury, inflamed heart and severe dehydration. I was treated with antibiotics, pain meds, and had to a have tube inserted into my abdomen in order to drain 2L of fluid that had accumulated. CT scans and MRI revealed findings consistent with decompensated cirrhosis and hepatic hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). It turns out that the cancer is in the late stages and my doctors estimate that I have about 9 months left or 18 with treatment. I have accepted this for myself but my concerns lay with what I can leave for my children when I am gone. All I care about is their future and would appreciate any help to ensure the well being of my 2 kids.
