Hello my name is Shannon and I am doing a fundraiser to help with paying bills. 3/24 my son went to school and had fun at recess. Shortly after I got a call and I can hear him screaming in nurses office bloody murder and was told his head was hurting badly and vomiting from pain. Next thing I know I entered the school and he was unconscious in a wheelchair with EMS all around. He suffers from mental illness so we thought it was from his meds he took that morning. He was rushed to Cooks Childrens hospital and I followed with principal following as well as his counselor and school DR keeping me updated with what happened. We came to find out my 11 yr old son is bleeding in his brain and his spinal fluid cavity is enlarged. While we still to this day don’t know why it’s happening there shows no signs of impact or trauma. We have don’t MRI & CT scans and see lots of blood. Being here he has had his heart rate dropped, infection in his arm from a blown vein containing potassium, psych episodes, on a ventilator, and so much more. We are in PICU and we’re told that we will be here for awhile because the DRs want to drain the blood as much as possible to prevent more hemorrhaging. We are keeping him sedated as much as possible because when he wakes he is aggressive (which is understandable) but is still in extreme pain. We already went through surgery in his skull to start the draining process but it is still a long road to recovery. I just started a job and I’m sure I’m on brink of loosing since I haven’t worked in 2 days and most likely won’t go in next week since my voice is literally the only thing keeping him from hurting the staff that is dong their best and hardest to keep my son comfortable. I will need help with some bills and babysitting cost of my other children as I will be with them for several hours as return to my bed strict son so he can stay calm and not hemorrhage.
